We have a mountain
to climb; that which goes beyond the reach of Everest. Never should we move a
step backwards in consolidating our rights as students but move several steps
ahead to meet our demands in oneness.
You will all bear
me out that as students of this noble institution, we are faced with numerous
challenges; both on campus and in the diaspora but nobody seems to care.
Insecurity, high cost of living in-and-around campus, leadership paralysis, poor
management system and ineffective information dissemination are a few mind
boggling issues to mention. It is very necessary at this juncture that we stand
up to be counted. We need to pay heed to the clarion call and be united as a
student front to defend our future. We can no longer go on pretending
day-by-day that somebody somewhere would soon make the changes that we need. We
must become the change that we need ourselves as once said by Mahatma Ghandhi.
For if we do not carry our own crosses well, there would be no crown for us. A
perfect change and total transformation can only prevail, if and only if we can
be honest with ourselves and be very critical when making "choices"
in our elections.
At long last, the
long awaited SRC-Local/NUGS elections has been slated for Monday 27th October,
2014 with the SRC PRESIDENCY election STILL PENDING. "THE CHOICE"
Team wishes to beseech you all; including the level hundreds; to vote wisely.
Let us stop selling our birth rights for a "morsel of bread", like
how Esau did in the Bible, and save our situation.
Indecision is also
not good enough because the nation suffers not only because of the violent acts
of the wicked but also because of the silent people in the society. Let us all
get aboard and vote wisely on Monday 27th October, 2014 since we will all be
affected by its outcome.
Let the truth
always be our guide and may the good Lord who makes us a King choose the right
set of leaders for UCC to man the 2014/2015 academic year affairs. Thank you.
