The Training and Development Section has held a two-day leadership seminar for non-academic senior members in the University
The former Executive Secretary of the National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE), Dr. Paul Effah has entreated leaders of higher education
to acquire and build on their conceptual skills in order to become
effective and efficient in achieving the mission and vision of their
institution.Dr. Effah gave this advice when he made a presentation on “Issues in Leadership and Management” at a two-day seminar for Non-Academic senior members of the University of Cape Coast.
The former Executive Secretary of NCTE called on the leaders to establish good relationship with their colleagues and staff under them.
Dr. Effah noted that the ability of a leader to analyse a situation, diagnose and solve problems is v needs conceptual skills to be able to apply both technical and human skills towards achieving a common goal.
Dr. Effah posited that leadership in the future would involve increased personal and business discomfort adding that “It will require new relationship with competitors and employers indicating that hierarchies will flatten as power moves away from top management towards employees and external stakeholders.”
Present at the function were the Registrar, Mr. John Kofi Nyan; Director of Finance , Mrs. Elizabeth Obesse; Deputy Director of Health Services, Dr. Patrick Baah. In attendance were senior members from the Office of the Registrar, Directorate of Finance, Directorate of Health Services and Directorate of Physical, Development and Estate Management.
