First year at Uni? You’re probably feeling somewhere between being incredibly nervous or extremely excited( it's normal i had those experience too).
Well, lucky for you I’m here to give you a
few tips about your first year at uni and
how to survive it without running yourself
ragged. But before i do that, let me first congratulate you on your transition to higher education- UNIVERSITY( It's not easy being here but you made it).
Tip Number One
Read outside your discipline, this will broaden your general knowledge base.
2. Go to the library and figure out how it works. It’s more complicated than it looks
3. Read broadly in your field, attend talks & conferences and start networking now. Not after you’ve got your degree.
4. If you’re in a demanding field, give yourself time and sometimes chat with senior students, they might give you a few study tips.
5. Have fun responsibly. Get involved on campus. But never forget why you are there.
6. Do not be afraid to sit right in front in lectures
7. Most guys who want to sleep with you don’t really know your name. So don’t get excited it’s not love (but there are some good guyz too on campus, like myself...lol)
8. Last minute assignments are unnecessarily oppressive. Do them at least a few days in advance.
9. There will come a time when you’ll want become a DJ or event organiser on campus. That’s normal (Well, i feel it's normal. i don't really know why).
10.High school was just a stepping stone to get you to this point. Now the work really begins.
11.Start studying from day 1. Go through your work after each lecture. Closer to the exam. You'll just have to review and practice that’s all.
12. If you feel overwhelmed, go see a campus psychologist or counselors. Details in your orientation booklet.
As a concluding tip, if you gain admission to UCC with Casely Hayford Hall as your hall of residence. Gosh, then you're truly blessed because friday nights in Casford is super exciting (you will understand why when you get to campus). We Casfordians rule UCC.
Finally, i'll love to make new friends, so look for me when you get to campus( i mean those of you in UCC). Oh, i almost forgot, remember to buy me a box of indomie when coming... lol
Good Luck, with love from UCCTALK
