Reports reaching UCCtalks.com indicate that some students of the University of Cape Coast, believed to be from the Casely Hayford Hall around 10pm on Friday, 27th November 2015 “stormed” the Old Site of the University only to be met by another group of students, who are thought to be from the Atlantic Hall(ATL).
According to an eyewitness, the ATL hallers were at the Old Site Shuttle station “waiting” for the said Casfordians. It is believed the Mariners had prior knowledge of the intended storming of the Old site by the Casfordians.
The two parties clashed at the Old Site Shuttle Station, just a few meters away from the forecourt of the Adehye Hall, where a Carols Night service was ongoing. The clash halted the Carols service .
Even though the main cause of the clash was not clear, sources say it might have sprang from a health walk organized by Mariners last week as they forced their way to the new site of the University Campus.
The police intervened in time, and about 10 students are reported to have been arrested.
